From a brief to a finished video
A five-minute guide. Your first video takes about fifteen minutes, most of it listening and choosing.
Quickstart video · 1 min 26 s · Watch full screen →
What you get
A finished MP4, 1080p, wide (16:9) or vertical (9:16): narration in the voice you choose, the music bed you choose, your pictures and clips cut to the words, captions on screen, and the Ritchie Bros. end card. The pictures are yours first: the studio uses the photos and clips you upload and the pictures inside your decks. For a line with no picture you can have one made by AI, or keep a designed text card.

Before you start
- Sign in at rbmarketingautomation.com with your AG Guide account (the email that was added to the studio), then open the Video Studio tile.
- Use Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop, with the sound on. The page is wide; it is not built for a phone.
- Have your pictures ready: photos and clips of the equipment, the yard, the people. They are what makes the video yours.
- If the tile says Coming Soon!, your email is not on the list yet. See Feedback for who to ask.
Step by step
-
Start a run and choose the look
Press + New run. Say what the video is about (required), who it is for and the tone. Choose the Look (Social or Corporate), the length (15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds) and the format (16:9 wide or 9:16 vertical). List the facts and numbers that must appear, one per line.
-
Add your pictures, clips and documents
Drop in photos, video clips, decks and reports. Photos and clips become the picture. The text of documents (pdf, docx, pptx, xlsx, txt) is read as source material, so the numbers in the script come from your file, and the pictures inside a deck or a Word file are pulled out for you. Up to 1 GB a file.
-
Read the three scripts, then approve one
Press Fire layer 1 →. In about a minute three scripts arrive, each with a different angle. Edit changes the lines yourself, at no cost. Rewrite asks for a new script in that slot. Check every number, then press APPROVE on the one you mean: each approval starts a paid audition.
-
Pick one voice and one music bed
In one to two minutes you get three narrators reading the first two lines and three music beds at full length. Press play on each, then SELECT one voice and one bed.
-
Check the storyboard
As soon as the voice and the bed are picked, the storyboard appears: one row per line, with its picture and the words that go big on screen. Press Change to give a line another picture or make it a text card, and click the on-screen words to edit them. + Add pictures or clips brings in more. A line with no picture can have one made by AI: Change, then AI PICTURE, or Make them with AI for every text card at once.
-
Make the video
Press Make the video →. The studio records the full narration, sets the timing, mixes the voice over the music and cuts the picture. A 30 second video takes two to four minutes. You can leave the page; it carries on.
-
Watch it, then download
The finished video plays in the last column. Download MP4 saves it. Not right yet? Change a picture, the on-screen words, a line of the script, the voice or the bed, and press Render again →. Changing pictures or on-screen words costs nothing to render again.
Social or Corporate
| Social | Corporate | |
|---|---|---|
| For | Feeds: Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Shorts | Corporate communications, town halls, customer and investor updates |
| Writing | Fun and quick, a hook in the first line, short lines | Formal and measured, complete sentences, proof before claims |
| Picture | Fast cuts, big captions made to be read with the sound off | Gentle dissolves, a restrained headline and caption in the lower third |
| Usual format | 9:16 vertical | 16:9 wide |
Either look works in either format. The look is set when you start the run.
Pictures that work
- About one per line. A 30 second script has six to eight lines. With fewer pictures the studio spreads them out and fills the gaps with text cards.
- Shape matters. Wide photos for a 16:9 video, upright photos and phone clips for 9:16. The studio crops to fill the frame, so keep the subject away from the edges.
- Big enough. At least 1920 pixels on the long side. Small pictures inside decks (icons, logos) are left out.
- Clips. Three seconds or more. The clip's own sound is not used.
- Name your files well. A photo called cat-336-phoenix-yard.jpg can be called for by the script and lands on the right line; IMG_4471.jpg lands wherever there is room. You can always move it in the storyboard.
- AI pictures are illustrations. They are made by an image model (Nano Banana 2.1) from the script's note of what is on screen, and are marked AI in the studio. They are not photographs of real machines, real lots or real sales, so never use one to show a specific item or event, and look at each one closely before you use it: check for odd details, invented signs or maker's names.
- Only use pictures you may publish. The studio does not check rights or releases.
A good brief
- One story. "What our September Phoenix auction did for sellers" beats "a video about Ritchie Bros."
- Give the numbers. Put the figures that must appear in the facts box, or upload the report they come from. The writer is told not to invent a number.
- Mind the length. A 30 second video holds about 50 narrated words in the Corporate look and about 60 in the quicker Social look. A script that runs long makes a longer video, and a short one a shorter video; the studio tells you by how much.
The RB voice
Every script is written against the approved copy library from the Brand team (October 2026): the approved headlines, supporting copy and proof points for Ritchie Bros. and RB Global, plus any sister brand your brief names (IronPlanet, RBFS, Rouse, IAA and the others).
- Company figures such as "190+ countries" or "900K+ active bidders annually" come only from that library, your brief or your files.
- Lines marked Draft in the library are never used.
- The writer is a model, so check every number and every word on screen before you publish. You are the editor, and nothing made here has been reviewed by Brand or Legal until you send it to them.
The shared budget
The studio has a hard cap of $25 a month for everyone together. When it is reached, paid steps are refused until the 1st. The SPEND · MONTH readout at the top shows where the month stands; click it for your own calls.
| Action | About | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Three scripts for a new run | $0.15 to $0.40 | Once per run |
| Rewrite one script | $0.10 to $0.20 | Each press |
| An audition (3 voices, 3 beds) | $0.55 | On approval, and each time you press "audition again" |
| An AI picture | $0.15 each | Only when you ask for one |
| Make the video | $0.02 a line | The narration. About $0.10 to $0.15 for a 30 second video |
| Render again after changing pictures or on-screen words | free | The narration is kept |
| Render again after changing lines or the voice | $0.02 a changed line | Only what changed is recorded again |
| Edit lines, storyboard, play, download | free |
A video costs between one and two dollars from brief to MP4, depending on how many rewrites and auditions it takes, plus about 15 cents for each AI picture. Settle the script before you approve it and the budget goes much further.
If something looks wrong
- A line shows TEXT CARD instead of a picture
- There was no picture for it. Press Change to choose one or to have one made by AI, or + Add pictures or clips to upload more. A text card is also a fair choice for a number or a closing line.
- An AI picture could not be made
- The image model sometimes declines a description or takes too long. Try again, or edit the line's on-screen note in the script so it describes a plainer scene.
- The video is longer than the length I asked for
- The script has more words than fit. The studio never cuts your words; it tells you how far over it ran. Shorten or remove a line and render again.
- "changed since the last render"
- Something the video is made from was changed after it was rendered. Press Render again → when you are done changing.
- The narrator says a word wrong
- Send a note (below) with the word. "Bros." is already read as "Brothers".
- A music bed has a "long" chip, or starts with a second of silence
- The music model does not always keep to the length. The edit trims the silence and lands the ending for you.
- I edited an approved script and the audition still has the old words
- Saving an edit does not spend money on its own. The audition is only a sample for choosing the voice; the video is always narrated from the script as it stands.
- My video is waiting
- Videos are made one at a time. If a colleague's is rendering, yours starts when theirs is done.
- A script has a chip saying Kimi K3 or Gemini 3.1 Pro
- The head writer (Opus) was unavailable, so a stand-in wrote it. It works the same way.
- "interrupted by a restart"
- The studio was updated while your job was running. Press the button again; narration that was already recorded is kept.
- "Monthly cap reached"
- The shared budget is used up for the month. Your runs and videos are safe; paid steps come back on the 1st.
- Who can see my runs?
- You see only your own. The studio's owner can see every run in order to help. Deleting a run removes its files, the video included, so download first.
- I was sent back to the sign-in page
- Your session ran out. Sign in again and you land back in the studio.
Feedback
This is new, so what you notice is the point. Send Ishtiaque Hossain (ihossain@ritchiebros.com) the title of your run and:
- whether you would post the video as it is, and if not, what stopped you;
- which script you approved, and what you had to change in it;
- anything that confused you, broke, or took too long.
